Life is weird.

Today I danced in my room. I had no alcohol in me at all. I. Danced. (Sober.)

...That is the magic of the New Pornographers on vinyl. It's true what everybody's been saying. Music just sounds better when it is coming off a record.

....is this an unusual thing to do?

Yes. I never dance sober. The last time I danced and was completely sober was, um, like, never. Or possibly at some point in my young childhood.

well, I can see your point in public, but in your room? Never?

Yep, I'm totally with Anna. You're weird for NOT having done this before. I dance alone in my room all the time. Constantly.

Well, historically I have hardly ever listened to music. iTunes makes my computer run slow and I get distracted anyway. So it's not like I have been accustomed to listening to music in my room all that much.

Jenny, if it makes you feel better, I'm totally with you. I have never danced, either in my room or in public. The most my enthusiasm for anything has ever driven me to is jumping up and down.

Oh, I'm so glad you finally weighed in. If you had commented and said, "Jenny! You never dance? Even I dance in my room when good music is playing!", I would have felt really silly because even you would have thought it was crazy. And possibly deleted this post and pretended it never happened.

Phew.

aww, tim, you couldn't just pretend?

Really, you've never so much as twirled a circle?

I confess I've twirled in circles to express excitement (usually over a nicely-flaring-out skirt), but never to music.

Shit. Now I've remembered one occasion on which I did dance to...I forget, some waltzy string quartet. But that was years ago and an isolated occurrence, which is why I didn't think of it right away. So my point stands that for some people, dancing in their rooms is an unusual thing to do.

I would just like to point out that Jenny does dance sober. I've witnessed it. In fact, she sometimes dances a different dance than the white-girl dance that we tend to favor. I'm just saying that it's happened.

Jenny said...

I never. I always do the white-girl move. So it is ironic. So not really dancing.

Nah-uh, you have actually danced around me. I've seen it. And NOT just the white girl move.
